Tasks

The Officer of the Watch is primarily responsible at all times for the safe navigation of the ship and the proper performance of harbour watch operation. During his/her duty the Officer of the Watch is in charge of the bridge and therefore of the bridge team.

Requirements

  • Licences / certificates conforming to STCW 95
  • Fluent English (spoken and written)
  • Conditions of Employment
  • Unlimited duration of employment contracts. Payment according to current HTV-See (Heuertarifvertrag-See = Full German social security contributions, remuneration according to the German seaman's wage agreement)
  • Work and leave times according to MTV-See (Manteltarifvertrag-See = German seamen's industry-wide employment agreement)
  • 1 : 1 basis, sea service time (3-4 months) = duration of leave (3-4 months)

Tasks

The Ship Operation Officer is holding the nautical and the engine certificate of competency. He/she takes over either the engine or the nautical part or both of them. As an Engineer of the Watch he/she is for example responsible for a safe sea and harbour engine room watch operation. He/she has to assist at engine room duties during manoeuvring under Chief Engineer´s instruction.

The Electrician Engineer is responsible for carrying out repairs and maintenance on electrical machinery and systems, equipment and installations. This also includes the communication and navigational equipment, automatic ship´s steering and controlling systems on board the entire vessel.
